Amsterdam At first glance, the city seems to confirm all the images by which we know it. Amsterdam really is a mesh of elegant canals, quaint bridges and old coffee houses. Trams and bicycles continually whizz through the streets. Tulip fields and windmills are only a stone's throwaway, and although Amsterdammers have given up clogs for Nikes these days, you'll find the people remain as welcoming as if their city were the friendly village it sometimes resembles.
